Does yesterday's fantastic Unknown Mortal Orchestra track remind of anything? Its crisp drum break reminds me of the work of Ramble Jon Krohn, also known as RJD2, the multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Columbus, Ohio. Collaborator, hip-hop artist and label owner, and associated with acts The Dirty Birds, Icebird, MHz Legacy, Soul Position, Aceyalone, Pigeon John, Yo La Tengo, Elbow and others, RJD2's work is marked by instrumentals with clever rhythms and unusual mixes. That particular drum break comes in his track A Beautiful Mine from 2006's album Magnificent City. It's better known for being the theme from the American advertising period TV drama series, capturing the brilliance and chaos of the world of Don Draper, of Manhattan, creative ideas, money and affairs.
