A soul-stirring classic originally recorded here in 1962 on Bob Keane's Del-Fi label, if became a hit two years later when she joined Motown. Penned by Ed Cobb, who also wrote Gloria Jones's Tainted Love (a huge hit for Soft Cell in the 80s), here the slow-swing pace, piano and Holloway's controlled voice combine a beautiful melancholy about a man who keeps breaking her heart. It was later recorded by other artists including the Small Faces and the Spencer Davis Group, and became a hit in 2006 for Alicia Keys for an Unplugged album. Holloway, now 70, still performs.
