Inspired by sounds of subway preachers, New Orleans-style jazz funerals and hip hop, this single by Brooklyn childhood friends Andrew LeCoche (Ula Ruth) and Evan Heinze (The Shacks) is an uplifting horn-section anthem. Opening with the sound of a preacher speaking out about society’s transgressions, he then observes that so many of us are throwing up our hands in an act of surrendering in a poignant sentiment in these troubling times.
The track started out as drum samples, field recordings, and a Korg Ms-20 with the horn section recorded at Hive Mind Recording in Brooklyn, including Ray Mason on trombone, Anant Pradhan on tenor sax and flute, and studio owner Billy Aukstik on trumpet.
