Following his fourth album Heaven Is a Junkyard (2023), a delicate, beautiful new single about angels by Idaho artist Trevor Powers, inspired by finding a piece of paper tucked into the bars of a bus-stop metal bench. As he describes on the paper was shaky handwriting the note said: “This is the tale of my resurrection. I died so I could live again.” He was also inspired by the poet WH Auden’s quotation: “Don’t get rid of my devils, because my angels will go too.” Out on Fat Possum Records. Place to fall in love.
Place to fall in love
I wanted to smile
All the Camels on the rug
A smoker's River Nile
Made an angel in the sand
What's an angel gonna do?
At the glory of her hand
At the glory of the moon
No one ever understands the way l move
Frozen in the world, frozen in the world
Lucy takes a picture
Morphine on the spoon
I'm waiting to drown
At the glory of the moon
I'm calling to you now
Made an angel in the sand
What's an angel gonna do?
At the glory of her hand
At the glory of the moon
Frozеn in the world, frozen in the world
Lucy takеs a picture
Frozen in the world, frozen in the world
Lucy takes a picture
And we walk the railroad steel, and we walk the cold night earth
And we catch a little breeze when I catch you in the dirt
And I feel the autumn die and the winter hold its keep
I can see it in your breath, I can taste it on your cheek
And we walk the railroad steel, and we walk the cold night earth
(The way I move)
And we catch a little breeze when I catch you in the dirt
And I feel the autumn die and the winter hold its keep
(The way I move)
I can see it in your breath, I can taste it on your cheek
