With a voice as rich, smooth, deep and pure as anyone around, sublime, tender, passionate, perfectly paced soul, funk R&B in this second LP by Washington D.C.-born Atlanta-based Jasmine Rose Wilson. Right from opening track Go, with undulating bass line and shimmering guitar and that deep, beautiful vocal, this is a release that grips the listener with its sheer class and arresting (“The Devil's a liar / That tries to divide us / Throws fuel on the fire /We're down to the wire”). Former Song of the Day Stop The Bleeding is an astonishing track of passion and feeling. I Won’t Tell is fabulous funk, or there’s the slow, smoochily imploring Dance With Me, and the thrummingly dreamy glittery, defiant Fight Club (with Georgia Anne Muldrow) (“I don’t need anyone else to show me the way”). Oozing class and quality from every pore, and already Grammy-nominated, Baby Rose should become a superstar. Out on Secretly Canadian.
