A sublime fourth album by the singer-songwriter Isabella Sophie Tweddle from Ripon in Yorkshire, building on 2021’s excellent Flora Fauna with folk love songs blooming of exquisite beauty and intimacy. Her voice seems purer than ever, combining the hushed whisper of Billie Eilish to the gorgeous clarity of Joni Mitchell. Breathtaking from first to last, with gentle opener, New Idea, accompanied by the sound of running water and perhaps rolling marbles, warming into lovely slow vocal harmonies. Particular highlights include the deliciously acoustic guitar-led God Above, Just Us, I Can’t Get My Head Around You, This Is How We Move, the tinkly old piano sound of Nothing But Mine, and the closing title track. A delicious musical orchard of seamless, natural beauty. The album also comes with a short performance film, shown below. Out on Fiction Records.
