Super pop producer Jack Antonoff releases a very personal album inspired by his New Jersey upbringing, and features his hero and big influence – Bruce Springsteen – as well as guests Lana Del Rey and string arrangements by St Vincent. Chinatown features the Boss himself, and very much echoes the man’s music and that of the E Street Band too, a band he surely yearned to be a part of. Opener 91 is a delicate orchestral number, How Dare You Want More is a jaunty number with added sax, Secret Life with Lana Del Rey is a slow burner, Stop Making This Hurt is a soaring piece of rock-pop, while 45 is a down-to-earth acoustic number. It’s an emotional release that feels like a cleanser from the huge hit success he’s had with Taylor Swift, Lorde and others. Out on RCA Records.
