West London’s Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland return with undeniably, strong, catchy selection of falsetto soul and disco pop that has strings, horns, hip hop and gospel elements that hit perfect, broad appeal notes. Standouts include the singles Keep Moving and Talk About It, the old-school soul closer Can’t Stop The Stars, Goodbye My Love with vocalist Priya Ragu as well as the more funk-based Fire, and No Rules, hip hop with Bas on the track Romeo, and the thrumming guitar on Truth. There are influences and sprinkles of Sault’s recent releases here without the moral fibre or seriousness, but this is still a very danceable and likeable record that is consistently good from start to finish. Out on Caiola Records.
