Gently spun, delicately understated and cleverly crafted, dreamy, angular guitar pop-rock with a light touch of synths from the Glasgow twins Rachael and Paul Swinton. There’s something pleasing about their minimalist simplicity, maturely built, unshowy numbers. Right from the off, their characteristically clean, precise, clever drum, bass and angular guitar syncopations on the opening title track with Rachael’s sensual, almost whispered singing voice, and continues throughout, including on single Pigeon, where she even sings “just keep it simple”. Other standouts include the plinky Never Know, Ladder, the melancholy harmonic chords on Ambulance, and Money Plants. Out on Mogwai’s label, Rock Action Records.
