Packed with smart, witty lyrics and an eclectic mix of dreamy pop, disco, folk and electronica, a wonderful new melodious LP by the smooth-voiced Danish artist Emma Grankvist from Copenhagen. Opener and title track is a delicate, beautiful piece of folk reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, while the humorously caustic School Reunion swings confidently into disco. Grankvist is blessed with a beautifully dry sense of humour that finally balances with melancholy and beautiful melody, as shown, for example, in (Search:) How To Break Up With A Friend, or Promise To Pick Up The Phone, where rippling piano and vocal harmonies combine in a heavenly style. Other standouts include Perfect 10 (with Harvey Sunderland), a companion piece to the (Search:) How to Make Up With a Friend, and a sumptuous, slow country-ish, twinkly cover version of the Bee Gees’ More Than A Woman. Sublime. Out on Future Classic Records.
