Eight years since their last LP, Australian duo Luke “Emperor” Steele and Nick “Lord” Littlemore return with an eye- and ear-catching set of synthy nostalgic 80s pop of colourful capes and astral fantasy. It’s a sci-fi fest of sugar-coated sounds, indulgent shiny synth pop, disco, colourful capes and Steele’s effect-laden vocals. Best tracks are perhaps Cherry Blossom, or Changes, with supporting roles from Revolve, Music on the Radio, the title track, and Ask That God and The Feeling You Get. If music was a candy store of luminous colours of Flying Saucers and Sherbet Dips, this would be it, not to be taken too seriously, and in small bites, it’s still certainly a little treat. Out on EMI.
