Truly gorgeous experimental work by London’s Trinity Laban-graduate harpist of Polish parentage, who as well as conventionally rippling the strings of instrument, creatively uses it with other effects, adds sea other nature sounds with electronica, with magical sprinkles of guest vocals, cello, woodwind and percussion. Osu stretches the realms of what a harp can do, from the opener Seaside (a former Song of the Day), to the fabulous tracks featuring Plumm on vocals - Melting Timbers and Care To Care, while the meandering flute, lower register plucked harp strings and gentle beat of Memento Mori (featuring YUIS on flutes) is another gem. The overall result is delicate, floaty, alternative fusion of jazz, folk and classical, every track infused with a different rather perfect, fragile hush, never hurried and perfectly weighted, evocative of raindrops on forest leaves, especially in the delicious falling arpeggios of the unaccompanied harp on Cascades, and similarly Only u<3 – a particularly delicate and beautiful instrumental. Until Tomorrow Continues flitters on an old sounding piano, while Despite Being In Love brings a melancholy clarinet to the fore. Closing track Meditation IV see Osu interweaving the harp with cello and flute, all dancing like butterflies. Music for blissful solitude, utterly exquisite. Out on Brownswood Recordings.
