Following last year’s breakthrough album Crooked Tree, brilliantly uplifting bluegrass and country by the Nashville singer-songwriter renowned for her finger-picking, again co-written by Ketch Secor from Old Crow Medicine Show and here co-produced by dobro veteran Jerry Douglas. The deliciously emotive sound of Tuttle’s voice and crisp guitar is given great backing the by fiddle, mandolin and banjo of Golden Highway band. Standouts include Alice In The Bluegrass (a re-telling of the Lewis Carroll story in a southern setting, though it’s also worth checking out a non-album version of Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit on this lovely video, the perky banjo-flecked San Joaquin, the travelling tale of Yosemite with Dave Matthews, the goldrush-themed El Dorado, and the up and down relationship-themed Next Rodeo. Excellent Americana for those who don’t normally listen to it. Out on Nonesuch Records.
