Not presented as an album, but an art piece sequence with visuals, these 10 numbers, variously ambient to dance electronica, are still very much in the LP form, half with guest singers Alison Goldfrapp, Beki Mari, Pixx, Susanne Sundfør and Alison S. The respective songs featuring those artists - Impossible, This Time This Place, How The Flowers Grow, If You Want Me, and Breathe – are the most engaging certainly, for the listener without also the animations of artefacts and films variously by Kasper Häggström, Jonathan Zawada and Marc Reisbig, while after the gently rippling opener (Nothing But) Ashes, second single The Ladder has shimmering echoes of Air’s Moon Safari, and other tracks move from ethereal to galloping electro-house. Whether the art concept completely works is open to debate, but there are many strong moments here, and good to see the the Norwegian pair of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland return with their first album for eight years.
