Following 2021’s beautiful first coin collection, another delicious release of gentle 70s-style folk with light touches of country, jazz and pop by the Romford artist who has made his home in Nashville, Tennessee. Gorgeously balanced with various acoustic instruments on top of drums, bass and slide guitar, there’s also flute, violin, clarinet, Autoharp, cello and more slightly sprinkled to go with Cullum’s gentle voice that floats in a style somewhere between that of Robert Wyatt and a mellow-period Ray Davies. Standouts include Kingdom Weather featuring the backing vocals of Yuma Abe, What A Waste Of An Echo with Dana Gavanski, and other guest backing vocalists Erin Rae, Dominic Billett, Caitlin Rose, and Annie Williams. Other shiny coins in the box include Betwixt and Between, Cold Damp Valley, the wistful Green Trees, the more psychedelic jam of The Three Magnets, and the slightly swinging Out of Focus. Charming, gorgeous, with a flavour of another place and era, and yet also timeless are these musical treasures. Out on Full Time Hobby.
