Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons return with their 10th LP in nearly three decades, one with that brings together sci-fi-themed, almost psychedelic apocalypse and upbeat, laser-light dance floor bangers. They are joined in particular by French vocalist Halo Maud, who appears best of all on the title track, and Live Again. No Reason meanwhile is a whooping banger with a dark, dystopian feel: “We have no reason to live, When will they kill us all?” Beck is also a strong presence on Skipping Like A Stone, with its fusion of indie, pop and rock. Overall, mixing dark themes with amphetamine highs, it’s all exactly the kind of spectacular dancefloor invention you’d expect from the duo, packed with breaks and brilliant beats, with other standouts including the dream-like yet optimistic The Darkness That You Fear, or the heavy funk of The Weight. Out on Virgin / EMI.
