The doors are open, the fire is blazing, the glasses clinking, the ice plopping, the liquid spilling, the banter is just beginning to bubble. Welcome one, welcome all to The Song Bar, a brand new venue for you to enjoy musical discussion. What's it all about? This is the place to create playlists and share music links. It is toll-free and troll-free. It is a place where the spirit of sharing is alive and well, even if we don't quite yet have all the spirits on the shelves. So bear with us and a few more nails are banged in, and a lick of paint is splashed on, and watch while we add new fixtures and fittings.
Why is The Song Bar now in existence? Because there is a huge demand for civilised discussion about music, and many readers familiar with this precious commodity and a special place to do so, have felt deprived of such a home recently. Readers like good writing, musical expertise and being able to share these fine qualities. The Song Bar is a place of mutual appreciation, surprises, sorrow and joy. It is the wisdom of the crowd, not the rule of the mob.
So, here's how it works. A theme will be set on the next blog. In comments, nominate songs on that blog. Then a guest writer will choose a playlist from them. This is not the best of, not can never definitive, but it will make a very good listen and it will undoubtedly inspire. Please appreciate each others' contributions. Enjoy each others' differences. That's how we make a difference. Nominations close on Monday lunchtime (1pm UK time).
Rules? We are aligned with a site called the Marconium. If a song is already A-listed (A to zedded) there on another playlist try to choose something else. But mainly use you imagination, make connections and have fun. Topic coming up later this evening.

We changed over the comment system after two days, so if you can't see original comments there were 132 here - then they have been pasted back in on the first topic blog.
