So much has been written these last few weeks and months about D-Day that the last thing the world needs is any clever-clever music blogger trying to write something witty, profound or moving about what was one of the most significant, if not the most significant days of global military action in the 20th century. All I will say is that I have been deeply saddened that the 80th anniversary coincided with a radical swing to the right in the EU elections with so many young people voting for the leaders who spew forth the same ideas of supremacy and xenophobia that led to the conflict that D-Day played an enormous part in ending.
