Song of the Day returns with two gloriously upbeat numbers with downbeat titles from Lawrence, from the brand new 17-track album Mozart's Mini Mart. Lawrence, formerly of Felt and Denim, has a genius for being able to combine wonderfully catchy bubble-gum indie pop with lyrics that are humorously melancholic and these two tracks are prime examples. Both are semi-autographical, the singer-songwriter having had no shortage of personal ups and downs, but I dare you not to feel a mixture of empathy and spring-in-your-step amusement with these two songs that instead of metaphor, simply tackle the issues of mental health and struggling with money problems head on. The album is available on Cherry Red Records, and Felt albums are also due for reissue.
