From yesterday's wave goodbye from Marc Almond, we move to a different kind of wave, a truly hot one from the writing talents of the magic trio of Holland-Dozier-Holland on the Motown label, creating a huge hit in 1963. This song magically fuses gospel, jazz and do-wop, and the version here, unlike the radio single, has a longer instrumental section with wonderful saxophone sound and full ending. The lineup at the time, Rosaland Ashford, Martha Reeves, and Betty Kelley, with various other members before and after, ended in 1972. But Martha, after a various career as solo artist and also serving for four years on Detroit City Council, started the band again in 2010 with her sisters, and regularly tours.
