Restlessly itchy and catchy, inspired by postpunk’s A Certain Ratio, Talking Heads, plus P funk and scratchy dub, this single is from a new band featuring Ali Friend and Rich Thair, co-founders and rhythm section of Red Snapper.
“Take a number, turn the page
Sign the line and act your age
Hold up a number, break the cage
It’s time to fight it’s time to rage.”
Their debut album Binary on 23 August through Sunday Best Recordings. The band has been formed “as a means of rediscovering something of what they grew up with; the dirty disco bass lines, noisy drum machines, wonky percussion, leering live drums, jagged guitar melodies and uplifting soulful song of the 80s”. The music also features Dan Carney (Astronauts), Luisa Tunstall-Behrens and Heloise Gerstein (Landshapes), Byron Wallen on trumpet) and John Metcalfe on strings.
