Yes I do feel better! Moving from the brilliant despair of SOS, we move into the majestic defiance of this first collaboration by two of Britain’s finest artists. His first work after leaving Suede, guitarist Bernard Butler originally conceived Yes as an instrumental, but after meeting David McAlmont at the Jazz Cafe in London in 1994, the singer’s writing and superlative voice raised it into a classic that will always elevate. You can feel the sheer passion, joy and relief in every note. With two albums and many separate projects, the pair eventually reconvened for anniversary performances, and remain equally passionate in their various work for charity and as critics of social injustice.
