Like its subject, the music and delivery of this perfectly formed song is beautifully simple and delicate. We all need our personal space and this lovely tonal hue of the 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Pasadena, California, is taken from her album, Hues, which was released in December. More from that album can also be enjoyed via the Spotify link and Bandcamp links below.
Hues grew up in a family of nine children, and lost her voice due to scarlet fever and tonsillitis for a long period of time as a child. A keen student of the likes of Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, Anita Baker, Beyonce Knowles, and Mary J. Blige, she has certainly now found her own space, and her voice has returned to blossom and express itself. Fana Hues’s music is out on the Bright Antenna label.
You need your space
As much as you can take
Said that I was what you needed
Now I'm in the way
Desert flower
Am I too much?
Desert flower
Am I enough?
The light on your face
Passes my mind
We don't lose a moment
You're always in time
Desert flower
Am I too much?
Desert flower
Am I enough?
Keep all your compliments
I'd rather have you.
