Continuing a mini-theme of upbeat, get-things-done music prior to Christmas, it's time to enjoy some effervescently catchy material from the US funk band formed in Michigan in 2011. Comprising Jack Stratton on keyboards, drums and guitar, Theo Katzman on guitar, drums and vocals, Woody Goss on keyboards, and Joe Dart on bass, as well as many collaborators and guests, the band spreads frenetic virtuosity across different instruments. Their work is eccentric and eclectic, some featuring vocalists, others instrumentals sounding like obscure TV themes. This track, from the 2016 album The Beautiful Game, features the work of Minneapolis guitarist Cory Wong. Clearly heavily influenced by the style of Prince and the style of music emanating that particular city's famous sound, the track builds in energy from studio into a live version into unbridled energy and joy.
