Grand and theatrical, with oodles of 80s synth sounds and a big dash of Grace Jones and David Bowie-sytyle glamour, Héloïse Letissier returns with his (recently confirmed as a trans man) flamboyant, poetic third album. It is filled with sounds that could have come out of an 80s sci-fi film soundtrack, echoing Bladerunner, and as the persona of Redcar (not to be confused with the Teeside coastal town), he has a powerful presence, especially when this album is performed live. Songs are filled with panache and Gainsbourg-style wordplay (most lyrics are in French) in a 13-track album that was written and recorded very quickly in a two-week period, the artist seeking to channel the sub-conscious with passionate, powerful emotions. It’s an impressive achievement, and highlights include Combien de temps, Ma bien aimée bye bye, Tu sais ce qu'il me fait, Rien dire, La chanson du chevalier, and Je te vois enfin. The title also suggests there are will be follow-up album next year. Absolutement. Un force du nature. Out on Because Music.
