This sophomore album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Amelia Rahayu Murray is dreamy, soft-sheen, shoegazey “bedroom stadium” electro-pop and indie on themes of womanhood, devotion and compassion. That perhaps points to the titular “soft power” of theme and sound – serene, whispered ,sensual, sensitive, and gentle, this is also sure-footed indie with reflective lyrics and some intriguing musical explorations with sometimes echo the likes of Saint Etienne. Standouts include the title track opener, So Easy, the catchy, wistful Dancing Years with fuzzy bassline , Cherry Pie, A Thousand Years, and the beautifully woozy closing number, City Glitter. Out on section1.
