Another cracking release by the London collective fronted by London-born Nigerian singer Eno Williams, a catchy, infectious concoction of Afrobeat, funk, disco, pysch and electronica, with punchy, enticing beats and grooves. Bass lines are particularly strong on this album, There’s a flavour of 80s disco in the funk mix from the opening title track, the catchy mantra of and rave ingredient of Got To Be You You Are, the cleverly constructed bounce of Fire, the deep funk and critique of social media of Politically Correct, the rousing chorus and colourful synths of Mama Say, the thunderous brass and rhythm section of Let My Yes Be Yes, all the way to the mesmeric boings of closer Dance In The Rain. Another release for which it’s impossible not tap your feet and nod your head, Ibibio Sound Machine manufacture joy. Out on Merge Records.
