Striking, experimental, atmospheric noise music in this second LP by the five-piece band from Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, who use traditional rock instruments to create juddery, industrial, and surreal sounds. Below singer Katie Balls’ high, ghostly voice, the real meat of Just Mustard comes from guitarists David Noonan and Mete Kalyoncuoglu, who seem to be able to make their instruments sound like sharp cutting edges, droning machinery, water ambience gliding or even techno synths. It’s evocative, otherworldly stuff, making an unusual form of support for the big bands they’ve supported on tour so far - The Cure and Fontaines DC. Standout tracks include Still, Seed, Blue Chalk, 23, Early, Mirrors and Rivers. Out on Partisan Records.
