The Bristol singer’s second album, packed with strong numbers, sees her developing her range from Americana and country styles to indie and synthpop, moving from the tender to the uptempo, her voice at times echoing the voice of Stevie Nicks, especially with vocal overdubs, and more than the Kate Bush / Dolly Parton combination with which she’s previously been compared after the release of promising 2020 debut album, Return. Highlights include the upbeat indie of Talk Over Town, Game of Cards, the thumpingly catchy Alligator with added horns, and more the same with fanfares on Howl (featuring Orlando Weeks), and the sparser, more melancholy Float. An artist blossoming rapidly with range and skilful, mature songwriting skills. Out on Heavenly Recordings.
