Vibrant, inventive, mischievous pop debut album by the down-to-earth Manchester singer, whose songs offer a humorous, unpretentious twist on the usual heartbreak and love song material, and a palette of pleasingly original electro-pop beats and synth sounds. Green’s voice also glides effortlessly between pop purity and acccented Mancunian. Standouts include the cheeky Just A Game, the double-edged title track, Sweat, Break My Heart, the lo-fi talky Crying In The Club (“I can shapeshift, I can fake shit”), the darker DieDieDie, Clean, Leach and Sweat. A refreshing, talented, charismatic young voice on the scene, with no doubt much more to offer. Out on Chess Club Records.
