Two albums and 20 songs released together in an outstanding combination of upbeat, clever, innovative, eclectic, refreshing electro-pop and dream-pop, funk, jazz and soul by the Margate duo of Graham Godfrey and Jessica Berry, who also seasoned touring musicians with other bands. Mixing piano and a variety of other instruments and synths, samples, percussion and Berry’s breathy, sensual voice, combinations and rhythms ripple out in constant innovation of funk, pop, soul, jazz and more. Dream With You’s highlights include the title track, Call It What You Like (a former Song of the Day), Are You Gonna Find It, I’ll Be There, the stripped back, saxophone accompanied Sinus Node (with Josh Arcoleo), and but every track is worth a few listens, and the dreamy closer Sunlight. Come As You is marginally the quirkier, perhaps more experimental of the two albums, but is also filled with gorgeous, but also more lowkey numbers, such as Runnin’, Nayland Rock (after the famous rundown Margate hotel), Do You Want More, the spooky Alien, and closer Under Pressure with a hint of early, ghostly Goldfrapp. Wonderful work, every song a different shaped beautifully crafted gem, creating a dream-like psych and soul soundscape, and all accompanied by clever, simple, graphic videos. Out on HaloHalo.
