Restless sparking, energy, seething anger and ironic lyrics, intricate, swirling, interwoven guitars, bass and drums, and produced by Dan Carey on the ever vibrant Speedy Wunderground label, this full debut LP by young Hebden Bridge band is more than a breath of fresh indie. As the band pushes out tightly paced riffing , with some attention trip-yo-up stop-starts and oddball sounds, vocalist Cameron Davey’s half-talking delivery is full of intelligent ire, with standout tracks include No Driver, Remains, the more gently psychedelic Upheaval, Last Breath, Blood Money and North Is Your Heart, which builds from slow to a fierce frenzy, and the passionate post-punk Last Breath (“I will spend my last breath singing!”), which at times floats beautifully in an otherworldly dream state before snapping back into a determined chorus. Fabulously firey and vibrant. Out on Speedy Wunderground.
