The veteran 73-year-old rocker from Buffalo, NY is a lesser known treasure, and returns with more sharp, vivid political lyrics that open here comparing New York streets during Covid to a sci-fi alien movie, and many unashamed nods to Springsteen, Dylan, The Who, Mellencamp and The Beatles. The title track sets the tone with its high octane style of driving rhythm, guitar and piano and that timeless image. Blood On Your Hands with Steve Earle has shades of AC/DC but with a political edge, The Justice Bell rings out a tribute to civil rights activist John Lewis via the style of Dylan with a rousing chorus, I Don’t Remember You is a strangely catchy country rock anti-love song, Off My Medication is a searing piece of rock, Expect Change summons some 70s Rolling Stones, while closing track Time To Be Great sums up his unsinkable energy after more than 20 records, 14 studio and several live LPs. Out on River House Records.
