This first single from debut LP by the Québec band created by Jane Ehrhardt and Simon Paradis weaves 80s new wave, electronica, pop and a dash of waltz around a theme of lost youth and mutability through the prism of old silent film footage. Their second single, Modern Feelings is also out now, and the LP is released in late March 2020 on Pantoum Records. More on them can be found here.
Your brain is overworked
And your heart is undersung
Trudging down a well-worn path
No currency in love
An instant of surrender
A whisper rises to above
Thoughts colliding through the mask
Colluding with the glove
Saying:
Lay to rest your youth Its shells, its shields and its cheap buzz
Drink up all you can of those sweet nights gone by
And wake up to see clearly through the fuzz
Parts are used, your nerve’s abused
Your insufficient funds
Searching for a wishing well
Or the losses that you won
The night you kiss, a word amiss
Your muse is on the run
Sliding through wide fingertips
Of karma’s hired gun
Singing:
Lay to rest your youth Its shells, its shields and its cheap buzz
Drink up all you can of those sweet nights gone by
And wake up to see clearly through the fuzz
We dance the fleeting dance
Then we beat an everlasting drum
Yes we dance the fleeting dance
Then we beat an everlasting drum
