Further joyful, shining beauty from the continent of Africa, this time from Johannesburg, 1987, and one of many great numbers by the supergroup, this song being all about 'whooping and clapping', not, as some listeners have wondered, Liza Minnelli. The group consisted of the strong, deep, basso profundo voice of Simon "Mahlathini" Nkabinde, who delivered his tones, pouring out like smooth, musical molten molasses, the dazzlingly bright singing trio of Hilda Tloubatla, Nobesuthu Mbadu and Amanda Nkosi, and backing instrumentalists the Makgona Tsohle Band. Only the Queens remain, the others finishing in 1999 when Mahlathini, also known as the Lion of Soweto, passed away aged 61. They all gained wide public exposure when featuring on Paul Simon's Graceland album.
