After debut Tracey Denim in May, the London trio release their second album of the year – moody, deadpan, drily witty, often dark, downbeat, sometimes frenetic, more often lo-fi, shoegaze indie influenced by The Cure and Slowdive. Unusual in that all three members – Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton – share the singing between and within songs, they have a distinctive sound, at their best in the riffy numbers My Little Tony, and Worlds Greatest Emoter. Of the rest, which is a mixed bag of effectiveness, very lo-fi, grungey and shoegaze, Brush w Faith, Glory Hunter and the quieter Jelsy offer engaging energy and sounds. Out on Matador.
