A vibrantly energised otherworld, an innovative concoction of experimental electronica, trash-pop to classical, gospel, 70s soul, house and more by the prolific LA-based Glaswegian DJ and producer Ross Birchard in his fourth LP and first for seven years. There really is the full kitchen sink on this record of 19 tracks across 63 minutes, with standouts including Intentions, the stop-start dance music of Bicstan, the futuristic Stump or the psych-trance of Dance Forever. Infinitely explorative, bright, brash and restless, it’s a techno-colour collision of hi-vis sounds, styles and and voices morphing, for example, in the middle of the album raise-your-hands gospel glory of Redeem to the quirky electronica Rain Shadow. With such huge palate of music sampled or worked from new, at times bewildering, bonkers but at times oddly brilliant. Out on Warp Records.
