Classy and indeed classic disco, pop, soul and funk by the London-born soaring-voiced singer, who with this fifth album of 10 glitterball bangers is really at the very top of her game. From the 70s funk of the opening title track, with full horn section to the piano-riff 90s dance of Free Yourself, the 80s shimmer of Pearls to the smoochy soul of Hello Love and of course the effortless Latin-esque, soaring disco and gospel of previous Song of the Day, Begin Again, it’s one form of pop perfection after another. On top of that Beautiful People hits a Brazilian groove, Freak Me Now is disco diva with a touch of Daft Punk, Shake The Bottle talks and struts, and closers Lightning and These Lips move through the gears of R&B back to smooth 70s disco and funk. Impossible not to tap toes and get up and dance with the sheer, sexy, infectious unstoppability of it all, from start to finish, hit after hit. Out on EMI.
