Clever, wry, satirical, topical, inventive upbeat indie by the Toronto quartet with their second album following Soccer Money, who have echoes of Pavement and The Modern Lovers, but with added vim and vigour, keyboards and harmonica. We previously profiled the single Undecided Voters here on our New Songs section, and the album lives up to the same standard. Standout tracks also include the title track, Waiting In Line Maid Marian’s Toast, Highlights of 100, Only Here For A Haircut, and Norma Jean’s Jacket.
Kiwi Jr. are frontman Jeremy Gaudet, who also plays with indie band Alvvays, Mike Walker (bass), Brohan Moore (drums), and Brian Murphy (guitar), Released on Sub Pop Records, more of Kiwi Jr.’s music can also be enjoyed here on their Bandcamp page, and also below. The new album is out on Sub Pop.
