Perfume Genius – No Shape
Album number four from Mike Hadreas promises to be an absolute belter with a beguiling blend of church music, R&B, art pop and krautrock configured to stadium-filling proportions.
Perfume Genius – Slip Away
Paul Weller – A Kind Revolution
What to make of Weller's recent output? There's been some experimentation with the boxing film, Jawbone soundtrack and interesting collaborations on this album with the likes of PP Arnold, Madeleine Bell, Strypes’ guitarist Josh McClorey, Robert Wyatt and Boy George. A shame, perhaps, that this alternates with well-crafted but all too familiar material such as Long Long Road which resembles a focus group checklist of Weller's late-60s influences. The single Nova, however, shows how Weller can come up with innovative work.
Paul Weller – Nova
Animal Collective – The Painter's EP
Companion release to last year’s album Painting With, the EP contains three new tracks recorded during the Painting With sessions, and also includes a studio cover of live favourite of Jimmy Mack.
Animal Collective – Kinda Bonkers
teve Wickham – Beekeeper
Second solo album from the Irish multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with the Waterboys. A mixture of instrumentals and songs with guest vocals from the likes of Mike Scott and Camille O'Sullivan, with a broad palette of musical influences.
Steve Wickham – Stopping By Woods
