Clint Mansell - Black Mirror: San Junipero
This score was composed for a season of the Netflix series set in a seaside town in 1987. Mansell knows how to create atmosphere and the synth/orchestral arrangement has the trademark glitches and showers of static.
Clint Mansell – Waves Crashing on Distant Shores of Time
Poliça & Stargaze - Bruises Blood
Terrific collaboration by electronic pop band with a Berlin-based chamber orchestra which reimagines Steve Reich's Music For Pieces of Wood. A second album of song-based material will be out later in the year.
No YouTube or Soundcloud, but listen on Spotify:
Declan McKenna - What Do You Think About The Car?
He's been hailed as precocious for rather too long what with playing Glastonbury and having a viral hit with a FIFA-baiting song about Brazil, so it's good to finally have a debut album from the 18-year-old. Expect some decidedly grown-up topics laden with pop hooks.
Declan McKenna - Isombard
Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life
Lana's "if it ain't broke don't fix it" maxim appears to have been partially ditched in favour of getting-down-with-the-kids collaborations with The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky but there's still plenty to enjoy for pop noir fans.
Lana Del Rey - Love
