A magical, mystical, gently mesmerising new LP of psych-folk by the band from Lewes in Sussex, interweaving tales of heartbreak, paganism and nature, in the traditions of Shirley Collins, Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention, Trees or Mellow Candle. There’s a lovely minimalism and restraint to these numbers featuring pure-voiced singer Rachel Thomas, multi-instrumentalist Stuart Carter, and musician and producer Richard Norris. Standouts include the deft, slightly bluesy guitar picking of toe-tapping opener Against The Tide, the slow, rich, bowed strings number Eye of a Lens, the otherworldly, transportive Somewhere Nearly Gone, the quiet, delicately atmospheric The Forest At Night, Save Me From The Carnival, and the bell-tolling Down To The Ring. Out on Group Mind and available via the Bandcamp embedded link below.
