A stirring, primal, powerfully dark, vivid hybrid-folk single by the trio of Ruth Clinton (Landless), Cormac MacDiarmada and John Dermody (of Lankum) heralding their debut album All Smiles Tonight, out on 11 July via River Lea Records. As well as being produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy, they explain that the song (a Ray Lynam & Philomena Begley track), transformed from a song about cheating hearts to something else: “It talks about how we can't go on living this way, which became a metaphor for the climate crisis and the general destruction of the planet.” The accompanying video, they explain, “was filmed over a number of years, near to and far from our home in the northwest of Ireland. Starring ourselves and many friends, both boxy and round, with special thanks to the pigeons of Sligo.” To explore and enjoy more by Poor Creature, as well as the artists’ other work, see also the other embedded links below.
