Another music star death prompts today's choice, and a shock one at that – the 46-year-old Dolores O'Riordan, whose passion shines out in this 1994 number from the album No Need To Argue. It's an ironic title considering this is a protest song about the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, and in particular a memorial to two young victims, Johnathan Ball and Tim Barry. O'Riordan and her band enjoyed huge success, especially in the US, and her style of singing, with that hint of yodelling, and no shortage of her Limerick accent, went down a storm, and didn't compromise of subject matter, O'Riordan was a force of nature, but remained down to earth, suffered with bipolar problems, and eventually left the band to do solo work, but joining them at only aged 18 in 1990 she spearheaded them to enormous success, and will be much missed.
