This exquisitely beautiful new release from the Malian kora player includes guest appearances from Camille, Piers Faccini, Feu! Chatterton, Sona Jobarteh, Salif Keita, Patrick Messina, Oxmo Puccino, and Vincent Ségal. These are variously instrumental and vocal combinations, perhaps the pick of the former being the beautiful combination and flourishes with cellist Vincent Ségal (with whom he has released two albums) and clarinet player Patrick Messina for refreshing reinterpration of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, titled Jeu sur la symphonie fantastique. Song Bar favourite Gambia’s Sona Jobarteh joins him on the kora and sings on the title track, the Paris pop singer Camille whispers about Sissoko’s instrument on the song Kora, rapper Oxmo Puccino brings some gritty yin the the delicate yang of Sissoko’s playing Frotter Les Mains (Rub Hands), Piers Faccini sings with a lilting, soft melancholy on Kadidja, but perhaps the most passionate and poetic track is the final one, nine minutes with the band Feu! Chatterton on gradually meandering build of Un Vêtement Pour La Lune (Moon Wear). Magical sounds, warmth, delicacy, sensitivity, breadth and extraordinary musicianship. Out on Nø Førmat!
