The French band’s third album is an attractive, energetic mix of classic vintage sounds from 60s candy floss pop to 80s synth new wave, instrumentals that could TV themes, whispery and sensual hip hop, disco and dash of rave. Jumping between male and female lead vocals, they are are always on the move, from the brass electro of the title track, the breathy ballad Le sang de mon prochain, the spoken slow delivery of the psychedelic Cool Colorado, or the manic Plastic Bertrand-Devo crossover of Foutre le Bordel. Nouvelle Orléans has beautiful retro synth arpeggios to accompany the high vocals, Pasadena is slow smooch pop with a weird, warbly middle eight, Lâcher de chevaux has all the hallmarks of a galloping retro TV theme, Disconnexion jumps into bluegrass. Foreigner, the only song in English is a tongue-in-cheek love song that hints at Brexit, and Divine Créature plays rather beautifully with a rave style. Mon Ami uses a classic Kraftwerk chord sequence to launch into a skippy pop number and Le Jardin is a slow hands-in-the-air close dance with lovely vocal harmonies. Overall this is an album full to the brim of mischievous, playful retro joy, catchy and always with the aim to get those feet on the move. Beaucoup d'amusement! Out on Disque Pointu.
