Willow-the-wisp delicately soft and profoundly beautiful, this second LP by Massachusetts singer-songwriter Claire Cottrill, 22, has refined her bedroom indie pop of 2019’s acclaimed debut album Immunity for something more akin to Elliott Smith or Sufjan Stevens. Heartbreak lyrics and more are serenely understated, including light sprinklings of guitar, piano, brass, woodwind, strings and Mellotron, ably aided by Lorde producer Jack Antonoff. Standout tracks include Amoeba, Zinnias, Blouse, Harbor, and Joanie, but the entire album is a consistently soft, nuanced, inventive pleasure. Out on Fader Records.
