After last year’s Happy Ending album, the seasoned British duo return with a sparkling selection of electro-pop, disco and rave bangers, often with tender lyrics, all decorated with the silky beauty of McAlmont’s high resplendently soaring voice. This is part of a two album theme, with the nocturnal sister album Twilight, released on Valentine’s Day in 2025, for a summertime /wintertime journey. This album mixes effervescent electronica with and more beat-driven disco/rave numbers, arguably improving as the album progresses, capturing if the sun rising and warming, and capped, among others by the penultimate track, Celebrate, with its uplifting refrain: “My instinct for survival is toe celebrate”. Before then though, highlights include the curtain raisers Daylight and Sun Come Up. You Are My is a twinkling beauty of a love song, Sad Banger a fabulously bittersweet light-effecting single and former Song of the Day, USB-USC’s a catchy piece of electro-pop, but perhaps the strongest combination is the final three - Living Things, a gorgeous, shimmering, gentle paced number, the aforementioned Celebrate, and the wriggly waves of disco rave in closer The Show. Bathe in the musical light, it’s warm, uplifting and life-giving. Out on Plastique Recordings.
