A welcome regrouping of two of The Wave Pictures, Charles Watson from Slow Club and Dominic Brider on drums in a 16-song mix of catchy surf guitar, Richman-esque folk rock, blues, indie, vintage rock’n’roll, bluegrass and no shortage of humour. There’s of course a huge crossover in sound with any album The Wave Pictures with David Tattersall taking up many vocals and playing lead, along with old mate Franic Rozycki on bass, but Watson’s singing an songwriting talents are also present with cracking tunes such as Locomotive Cheer and Sports Bar. Pink Ice Cream, Ten Days of Silver , the quieter Poppies, and Silver Breasts, an expansion of sax and violins on Nostaw Boogie, and Tattersall’s favourite hobby comes to the fore in the joyous I’m Going Out Tonight To Play Some Pool. The title track is a bluesy, black-humoured metaphor for his vision about his Leicestershire home village's population of self-governing people, and the album cover reflects a a collage of his referenced dreams. Inventive, fun-filled, wistful and vivid. Out on Moshi Moshi Records.
