An adjective describing that which loves the shade, whether person, plant or otherwise, from the Latin, umbra, for shade and related to other derivatives, such as umbraphile, one who loves eclipses. Another is umbrosous, which means covered in shadow, while umbra, penumbra and antumbra, describe three distinct parts of a shadow, created by any light source after impinging on an opaque object, such as the sun shining across the moon, the umbra being the darkest.
